Bhp Oil, Steel Output Recovers
Sydney Morning Herald
Friday August 28, 1987
BHP's oil production has continued to recover from the past year's price-affected levels, while its steel output looks to be improving from recent lows.
BHP's production for the two months to the end of July showed the group's share of Bass Strait, Jabiru and North-West Shelf oil production was 13.9 million barrels, up 50 per cent on last year.
Production had resumed from the Kingfish A platform after a 17-month layoff.
The production report showed steel output in July was a healthier 518,000 tonnes, taking production for both June and July to 1.02 million tonnes.
July's output alone indicated an annual rate of production of 6.2 million tonnes, or better than 90 per cent of capacity.
